Kaur in contention: T-12th spot keeps LPGA hopes alive
Gurleen Kaur, a 24-year-old Indian-American golfer and Baylor University alumna, is making headlines once again. A trailblazer at Baylor, where she became the first four-time All-American in the program’s history, Kaur is currently vying for full LPGA status for the 2025 season at the final round of the 2024 LPGA Q-Series: Final Qualifying in Mobile, Alabama.
Kaur posted scores of 66-74-68-72, sitting at 2-under par in her final round and 8-under overall. She is tied for 12th with 12 holes remaining. The top 25 players and ties will secure full LPGA status for the upcoming season. The final round was suspended due to heavy rain and will resume tomorrow to determine the qualifiers.
Last year, Kaur made a strong impression on the Women’s All Pro Tour, finishing in the top 5 and advancing through the Epson Tour Qualifying Tournament Stage II with rounds of 72-68-74-67. She then excelled at the Final Stage, shooting 20-under across six rounds to secure her LPGA card for the 2024 season.
Her rookie season on the LPGA Tour featured 17 events, seven cuts made, and a career-best tied-11th finish at the Lotte Championship. Kaur earned $108,200 in 2024, finishing 130th on the CME Points list. With the top 80 players securing automatic full playing privileges, she now aims to reclaim her LPGA card through Q-Series for a second consecutive year.
