International Series India: A vital boost for Asian Tour, says Lahiri
Indian golf icon Anirban Lahiri is set to compete in the International Series India presented by DLF at DLF Golf and Country Club next week, a tournament he calls “the biggest event” in Indian golf history. The seven-time Asian Tour winner will be joined by Crushers GC teammates, including captain Bryson DeChambeau, reigning U.S. Open champion, and global star Paul Casey.
Lahiri has been a consistent performer in The International Series since its 2022 launch. In 2024, he secured two top-20 finishes, including a T5 at International Series Qatar and a T17 at International Series England. Proud of his Indian roots, Lahiri believes this event should become a staple on the Asian Tour.
“It’s fitting that The International Series comes to India. I hope it becomes an annual fixture, showcasing the synergy between Indian golf and the Asian Tour,” Lahiri said.
Lahiri credits the Asian Tour for shaping the careers of many Indian golf legends, including Jeev Milkha Singh and S.S.P. Chawrasia. He emphasized Indian golf’s deep connection with the Tour, which has provided a vital platform for players over the years.
The 36-year-old star, who achieved four top-10 finishes on the LIV Golf League in 2024, is focused on improving his consistency for 2025. “I wasn’t as consistent as I’d like. My goal is to raise my game, contend more often, and get that first win off my back,” Lahiri said.
The International Series also serves as a pathway to the LIV Golf League, offering top-ranked players a chance to secure spots through innovative promotions and rankings systems.
This historic event at Gurugram promises to highlight the best of Indian golf while further elevating the sport on a global scale.
