LIV Golf & South Australia government sign a five-year extension
LIV Golf has extended its partnership with the South Australian Government, ensuring Adelaide remains the exclusive Australian host through 2031. The announcement, made at The Grange Golf Club’s par-3 12th hole, featured South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil, and golf legend Greg Norman.
“This event showcases elite players, top courses, and an unmatched fan experience,” said O’Neil. “Premier Malinauskas has played a crucial role in this long-term commitment. The past three years have set the foundation for something truly special.”
As part of the deal, the government, in collaboration with Adelaide City Council, will redevelop North Adelaide Golf Course, designed by Norman. The transformation will create a premier public facility, featuring a championship 18-hole course, expanded practice areas, and upgraded infrastructure to enhance both LIV Golf’s tournament setup and year-round public access.
Norman, reflecting on his long-held vision, said, “For 30 years, I’ve dreamed of a global golf league, and LIV Golf Adelaide proves it’s possible. This event is game-changing, leaving a lasting impact on the sport and community. Designing a world-class course here is a privilege.”
LIV Golf Adelaide has already generated $136 million in economic impact, attracting thousands of visitors. Named ‘World’s Best Golf Event’ twice, it combines top-tier golf with a festival-like atmosphere, including hospitality, entertainment, and live music.
Premier Malinauskas emphasized the broader benefits: “LIV Golf is more than a tournament; it’s a platform to showcase South Australia. With images broadcast to millions worldwide, it cements our state as a must-visit destination while driving tourism and business.”
With global viewership spanning 100+ territories and attendance reaching 94,000 in 2024, LIV Golf Adelaide continues to expand. Featuring golf’s biggest stars—including Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, and Phil Mickelson—the tournament ensures Adelaide’s place as a premier golf destination well into the future.
