Arjun Prasad claims maiden title in Coimbatore
Delhi’s Arjun Prasad ended a long wait for his first professional win with a four-shot victory at the ₹1 crore Tamil Nadu Open 2025 Presented by SIPCOT & TANCEM at Coimbatore Golf Club.
The 26-year-old, who turned pro in 2017, closed with an even-par 72 for eight-under 280 (70-70-68-72), having led since round two. He was the only player to avoid an over-par card all week. The win earned him ₹15 lakh and lifted him to second on the PGTI Rankings with season’s earnings of ₹84.7 lakh — now less than ₹4 lakh behind leader Yuvraj Sandhu.
Prasad has been among the tour’s most consistent this year with 10 top-10s, including two runner-up finishes, before finally converting. “The win took a while to sink in,” said a relieved Prasad. “The key was staying in the moment and hitting fairways and greens. The up-and-down on the 11th gave me momentum, and from there I knew it was mine to lose.”
Chandigarh’s Jairaj Singh Sandhu (75-71-70-68) and Sri Lankan veteran N Thangaraja (72-73-69-70) tied for second at four-under 284, while Hyderabad’s Mohd Azhar (68) and Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain (71) shared fourth on 286.
For Prasad, the win also secures a coveted start at the DP World India Championship later this month at Delhi Golf Club. “Playing alongside names like Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood will be a dream,” said Arjun, who partnered Fleetwood as an amateur at the 2016 Indian Open.
