Ormsby triumphs in Jakarta playoff as Bhullar’s bid fades
Australia’s Wade Ormsby claimed the Jakarta International Championship title after defeating Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent on the first playoff hole at Damai Indah Golf’s PIK Course, while India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar saw his challenge unravel on the final day.
The trio of Ormsby, Vincent, and Bhullar began the day tied at 11-under. Bhullar opened with a birdie but dropped three shots on the front nine to lose ground. Two birdies after the turn briefly revived hopes, but late double bogeys on 15 and 18 ended his bid for a sixth win in Indonesia.
Ormsby and Vincent finished tied at 12-under after matching 69s. In the playoff on the 18th, Vincent found water with his second shot, allowing Ormsby to seal victory with a steady par. It marked the 45-year-old’s fifth Asian Tour title and second International Series win, following his 2023 triumph in Thailand.
“It was a grind,” said Ormsby. “Didn’t have my best stuff, but I hung in there. Feel bad for Scotty, but that playoff hole was special.”
Bhullar finished as the best Indian at seven under, with Viraj Madappa carding a 66 to end at three under and Chikkarangappa S two over after a 74.
Vincent, runner-up in his last two starts, was seeking to become the first player to win back-to-back International Series events following his July victory in Morocco.
The Jakarta International Championship was the fifth stop on The International Series, the Asian Tour’s elevated events that offer a pathway to the LIV Golf League through the season-long rankings race.
