Yuvraj Sandhu takes two-shot lead after third round in Pune
PGTI Order of Merit leader Yuvraj Sandhu carded a superb six-under 65, the day’s best round, to seize a two-shot lead after Round 3 of The Poona Club Open 2025, an INR 1 crore event being played at the Poona Club Golf Course.
The overnight rain made conditions tricky, but the 28-year-old Chandigarh pro thrived, moving to 16-under 197 with seven birdies against two bogeys. “The wet conditions reminded me of golf in Asia, so I felt comfortable,” said Yuvraj. “The greens held up really well, and after a slow start, I found my rhythm from the fifth hole and just kept going.”
Shaurya Bhattacharya, a winner on the PGTI earlier this year, stayed in the hunt with a four-under 67 to lie second at 14-under 199, while former PGTI No. 1 Manu Gandas shot a 66 to sit third at 11-under 202.
Playing partners Yuvraj and Shaurya have shared plenty of fairways before. “It’s always fun playing with Shaurya,” Yuvraj said. “We’ve travelled and roomed together — it’ll be great going head-to-head in the final group.”
Shivendra Singh Sisodia and Jairaj Singh Sandhu rounded out the top five at eight-under. Among locals, Rohan Dhole Patil was the highest-placed Pune professional at two-under.
The event concludes Friday, with Sandhu eyeing his fifth win of the season and a tighter grip on his PGTI Order of Merit lead.
