Vani Kapoor, Shagun Narain and Jahanvi Bakshi share first-round lead in Jaipur
Vani Kapoor made a blistering start with four birdies on the front nine before settling for a 2-under 68 on the opening day of the 14th Leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at Ram Bagh Golf Club.
The four-time winner this season looked unstoppable early on, carding a 4-under 30 on the front nine — the best front-side score of the day. However, dropped shots on the 15th and 17th slowed her momentum, leaving her tied at the top with Shagun Narain and Jahanvi Bakshi.
Shagun kept a clean card with birdies on the eighth and ninth holes, while Jahanvi, returning from injury, was flawless through her first nine. She caught fire on the back nine with four birdies between the 10th and 15th — three in a row from the 13th — before a double bogey on the par-5 17th left her at 2-under.
Four players, including amateur Riya Jadon, followed closely at 1-under 69. Jasmine Shekar, Nayanika Sanga, and Shweta Mansingh joined her in a tie for fourth.
Sneha Singh, a multiple-time winner, was even par alongside Vidhatri Urs and Kriti Chowhan. Among the seasoned names, Ridhima Dilawari and Neha Tripathi finished at 1-over 71, while Amandeep Drall and Khushi Khanijau were 2-over at 74.
The tournament continues on Thursday with the leaderboard tightly packed and several contenders within striking distance.
