Aditi stays in contention, Avani breaks into top-20 at Andalucía Open

India enjoyed another encouraging day at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, with Aditi Ashok holding steady just outside the top 10 and Avani Prashanth making the biggest Indian move of the day to break into the top 20 at the halfway mark.

Aditi, the 2023 champion who entered this week on a special invite, returned a composed 2-under 70 to sit T-11 at 5-under 139 — well-placed heading into the weekend at Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf.

Rookie Avani delivered the best Indian card of the day, a confident 3-under 69, climbing to T-17 at 4-under, continuing her excellent run after a top-5 at the Hero Women’s Indian Open.

How the Indians Stand

Aditi Ashok – 70 (T-11, -5)
A tidy round featuring three birdies and a single bogey kept her in touch with the top contenders.

Avani Prashanth – 69 (T-17, -4)
An aggressive card with six birdies, offset by a bogey on the third and a double on the 16th. Still, her bold play paid off.

Pranavi Urs – 71 (T-47, +1)
Two birdies and a bogey on the day as she looks to build momentum over the weekend.

Diksha Dagar – 75 (T-64, +5)
One birdie, two bogeys and a double bogey for the Olympian.

Hitaashee Bakshi – 76 (T-64, +5)
Three birdies mixed with five bogeys and a double meant a tough scoring day.

All three — Pranavi, Hitaashee and Avani — are coming off impressive top-5 finishes at the Hero Women’s Indian Open and remain well-placed for a weekend climb.

Cheenglab Sets Course Record, Leads by Seven

Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab dominated the day, firing a spectacular course-record 63, her lowest career round on the LET, to jump seven clear at 15-under.

Her bogey-free round included three straight birdies to start, back-to-back gains on 6 and 7, and a red-hot finish with three birdies in a row.

Italy’s Alessandra Fanali climbed into second with a 66, while France’s Céline Herbin and Nastasia Nadaud sit T-3 at 7-under.

Mimi Rhodes and Shannon Tan, locked in a duel for the LET Order of Merit, stayed one back at 6-under after matching 67s — and will play together again on Saturday.

With two rounds to play and India’s two top performers well positioned, the weekend promises a compelling finish in Málaga.
