N Thangaraja shoots 66 to lead in Delhi
Sri Lanka’s N. Thangaraja surged into the lead at the Vishwa Samudra Open 2025 presented by Kapil Dev after a bogey-free 6-under 66 at Delhi Golf Club, moving to 5-under 139 at halfway.
Thangaraja, a three-time winner this season and fourth on the PGTI Order of Merit, jumped from overnight T-18 to first and will take a two-shot cushion into round three.
Jairaj Singh Sandhu, who led after day one, slipped to second after a 73 and now sits at 3-under 141. Dhruv Sheoran (68), PGTI No.1 Yuvraj Sandhu (69), Viraj Madappa (69) and Rashid Khan (70) are tied third at 2-under 142.
Play was suspended at 5:30 pm due to fading light, leaving five players to complete their second rounds from 7:30 am on Thursday. Round three will not begin before 8:15 am. The cut is projected at 8-over 152.
Thangaraja’s 66 was built on ruthless work on the par-5s—he birdied all four—and tidy touch around DGC’s greens. He also arrived in Delhi after a disrupted stretch at home, with flooding in Sri Lanka limiting practice.
“My home in Colombo was affected… fortunately no major damage,” Thangaraja said. “I missed out on practice for about 15 days… I just managed to get one day of practice before leaving for Delhi. Keeping the circumstances in mind, I’m quite proud of my effort so far.”
