Theegala up to T-32 after third-round 67 at Sony Open

Sahith Theegala climbed into the top 35 with a third-round 67 at the Sony Open in Hawaii on Saturday. The Indian-American is 4-under through 54 holes at Waialae Country Club and sits T-32 after rounds of 73–66–67.

Theegala made five birdies against two bogeys to move up 27 places from his halfway position.

Indo-Canadian Sudarshan Yellamaraju is also T-32 at 4-under after a tougher 72 in the afternoon wind. Yellamaraju mixed two birdies with four bogeys but remains in position for a solid finish in his Sony Open debut.

Indo-British Aaron Rai slipped to 50th at 2-under after a third-round 69.

At the top, Davis Riley posted a 67 to reach 12-under and take a two-shot lead into Sunday. Harry Hall (66), Chris Gotterup (68) and Kevin Roy (69) are tied second at 10-under, while defending champion Nick Taylor is three shots back after a 70.

Hideki Matsuyama (65) and Jordan Spieth (68) sit at 6-under, and 62-year-old Vijay Singh matched Theegala’s 67 to reach 4-under.
