Honey Baisoya opens five-shot lead at DP World Players Championship
Honey Baisoya fired a brilliant 6-under 64 to open up a commanding five-shot lead after the third round of the INR 1.5 crore DP World Players Championship at the Qutab Golf Course in New Delhi.
Baisoya, who began the day one shot off the lead, carded seven birdies and a lone bogey to move to 18-under 192 through 54 holes.
The 29-year-old from DLF Golf & Country Club is chasing his first title since 2021, despite being a seven-time winner on the DP World PGTI.
Jamal Hossain moved into second place at 13-under 197 after a third-round 68.
First-round leader Kshitij Naveed Kaul, second-round leader Jhared Hack, Tapendra Ghai and Veer Ahlawat are tied third at 12-under 198, leaving Baisoya with a clear cushion heading into the final day.
Baisoya’s putter set the tone early. He rolled in three birdies from mid-range inside the opening six holes and recovered well from a bogey on the fifth after finding the hazard.
He added four more birdies on the back nine, including three over his final four holes, showcasing sharp wedge play and precise chipping to stretch his advantage.
“My putting has stood out this week,” Baisoya said. “I focused on staying aggressive and setting up chances. I’ve put myself in a good position going into the final day.”
Kaul produced one of the shots of the day, holing out from the fairway for an eagle on the par-4 18th to sign for a 65 and move into a share of third.
With one round to play, Baisoya holds a decisive edge as he looks to end his title drought and convert a strong week into victory in Delhi.
