Aaron Rai and Sahith Theegala missed the cut at the Valspar Championship after both failed to build on their opening rounds.
Rai, who had started strongly with a 68 to sit inside the top 10, slipped out of contention after a 5-over 77 in the second round to finish at 3-over for the week.
Theegala also exited early, carding an even-par 72 in round two but ending at 6-over overall after a difficult opening round.
Rai’s round unraveled on the back nine, where he mixed a birdie with three bogeys and a double bogey to fall behind the cut line. Despite a brief recovery on the front nine with another birdie, four additional bogeys ended his week.
At the top, Sungjae Im held the halfway lead at 9-under after rounds of 64 and 70, the only player inside the top four with a PGA Tour win. He leads David Lipsky by one shot.
Doug Ghim and rookie Chandler Blanchet are tied third at 7-under heading into the weekend.
Defending champion Viktor Hovland also missed the cut, marking his first early exit since the Players Championship in 2025.
With both Rai and Theegala out, the Indian-origin presence ended early at Valspar after a promising start.
