Rohit Baisoya fired a 7-under 65 to take the first-round lead at the Alpha Sports Academy Golf Championship on the PGTI NexGen Tour in Patna.
The Delhi golfer leads by three shots after a standout round at Patna Golf Club, the fourth event of the 2026 NexGen season.
Bipin Mukhiya and Manoviraj Shekhawat are tied second at 4-under 68, while local professional Md Nawab sits tied fourth after a 2-under 70.
Baisoya’s round was built on a strong back nine, where he picked up an eagle and three birdies. He chipped in from a bunker for eagle and added two more birdies with quality up-and-downs from the sand.
He had earlier carded four birdies and two bogeys on the front nine before accelerating through the closing stretch.
Vinay Kumar Yadav, last week’s winner on the NexGen Tour, produced the highlight of the day with a hole-in-one on the first hole during his round of 72, leaving him tied ninth.
Played on a par-72 nine-hole layout, with the course looped twice, Patna Golf Club presented a unique test where accuracy off the tee proved crucial.
Baisoya credited his driving and bunker play as key factors behind his opening-round lead as he looks to build on the momentum heading into round two.
