For one evening, the Qutub Minar became a golf course, a giant leaderboard and a celebration of India’s growing place in the global game.
DP World used projection mapping to illuminate the historic Delhi monument ahead of the second edition of the DP World India Championship, which begins at Delhi Golf Club on Thursday.
The visual display opened with the colours of the Indian flag sweeping across the Qutub Minar before moving through depictions of the country’s art, culture and heritage. The monument was then transformed into the greens and fairways of a golf course as the focus shifted towards this week’s US$4 million championship.
Images of back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy, defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose and Shane Lowry appeared across the monument alongside Indian stars Shubhankar Sharma and Anirban Lahiri.
The sequence brought together one of Delhi’s most recognisable landmarks and a field containing some of the biggest names in international golf. It ended with an image of the tournament’s Lotus Trophy and the message: “India, it’s time to tee off.”
The display also highlighted the Race to DP World India Championship, through which 24 leading DP World PGTI players qualified to compete alongside the international field.
The pathway has given India’s domestic professionals direct access to the country’s richest DP World Tour event. Several of them will also be competing for the top position on the DP World PGTI Order of Merit, which carries playing rights on the DP World Tour for 2027.
DP World’s India Subcontinent Country Manager Hemant Kumar Ruia said the projection was intended to connect India’s heritage with its growing sporting ambitions.
“Illuminating the Qutub Minar with the colours, energy and personalities of the championship creates a powerful connection between India’s rich heritage and its growing sporting ambition,” Ruia said.
The DP World India Championship returns to Delhi Golf Club from October 15 to 18 after Fleetwood won its inaugural edition in 2025.
Co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and DP World PGTI, the event forms part of the Back 9 phase of the Race to Dubai and carries the largest prize fund offered by a DP World Tour tournament in India.
The lights on the Qutub Minar provided the first spectacle of the week. From Thursday, attention turns to Delhi Golf Club, where the international stars and India’s leading professionals will compete for the Lotus Trophy.
