Bhatia blazes bogey-free 64 to share Pebble Beach lead in landmark start

Akshay Bhatia fired a bogey-free 8-under 64 at Spyglass Hill Golf Course to seize a share of the lead at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, marking his landmark 100th PGA Tour start.

The Indian-American backed his opening 65 with clinical precision, reaching 15-under-par 129 after 36 holes, tied atop the leaderboard with Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune (62-67).

Bhatia’s flawless round featured six birdies and a stunning 50-foot chip-in eagle at the par-5 14th, showcasing his surging confidence. It’s his first bogey-free 36 holes since the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic, extending a 44-hole clean streak over three rounds from last week’s Phoenix Open T3 finish.

“It’s great to be bogey-free around these courses,” Bhatia said. “The greens get bumpy, slopes make putts tricky. I’ve been steady inside five or six feet—it’s a lot of fun.”

The 22-year-old, a two-time winner (2023 Barracuda, 2024 Valero Texas Open) and 2025 FedExCup No. 13, continues rising.

Sahith Theegala posted 71-69 to slip to T52 at 2-under. Hisatsune’s 67 kept him co-lead; Rickie Fowler and Sam Burns share T3 at 14-under. Scottie Scheffler (66) sits T34 at 6-under. No cut means the full field tackles Pebble Beach Links this weekend.
