A high-level meeting was held between Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, and Amandeep Johl, CEO of the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (DP World PGTI), to explore opportunities for developing and promoting golf in the state.
A key focus was the potential development of international-standard golf courses in Nava Raipur, along with the long-term possibility of hosting a DP World Tour event — a move that could place the region firmly on the global golfing map.
Also present were Shri Ankit Anand, IAS, Chairman of the Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority (NRDA), and Shri Rajat Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Government of Chhattisgarh.
Discussions centred on building a sustainable golf ecosystem in the state, including infrastructure development, sports tourism, and increasing grassroots participation. The idea is to position Chhattisgarh as an emerging golf destination while unlocking economic benefits across hospitality and allied sectors.
The successful staging of the SECL Chhattisgarh Open was highlighted as a key milestone, underlining Nava Raipur’s growing importance on the Indian golf circuit and the sport’s expansion beyond traditional hubs.
Johl outlined the broader growth of professional golf in India, pointing to the expanding DP World PGTI calendar and the sport’s potential to drive tourism, create jobs, and enhance international engagement.
Both sides also explored avenues for collaboration between the state government and DP World PGTI, aimed at accelerating golf development and bringing more high-profile events to the region.
What it means: Chhattisgarh is positioning itself as a future golf hub, with infrastructure and global events firmly on the agenda.
What’s next: Continued collaboration could pave the way for new courses, bigger tournaments, and a stronger golf ecosystem in central India.
