Diksha Dagar finished as the top Indian at the Women’s Australian Open, while Hannah Green made history by becoming the first Australian to win the country’s national open since 2014.
Diksha closed with a 2-over 74 to end the week tied 45th with rounds of 72-74-74-74 for a total of 6-over par.
Among the other Indians, Avani Prashanth finished tied 49th after a final-round 74 gave her a total of 7-over 295 (77-72-72-74). Vani Kapoor slipped down the leaderboard with an 80 to end tied 66th after rounds of 72-74-80-80 for a total of 306.
Diksha’s final round featured four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey as she completed a steady week in which she made the cut in all three of her starts during the Australian swing. Avani, making her first cut in three Australian starts this season, recorded two birdies and four bogeys in the last round.
At the top, Hannah Green sealed a memorable home victory with a final-round 2-under 70 to finish at 11-under par at Kooyonga Golf Club. The seven-time LPGA winner held her nerve in a tightly contested finish to edge out Australia’s Cassie Porter and France’s Agathe Laisne by one shot.
The win marked Green’s second title in three weeks following her LPGA triumph in Singapore and also her first victory on the Ladies European Tour. She became the first Australian to win the Patricia Bridges Bowl since Karrie Webb in 2014.
Porter and Laisne shared second place at 10-under, while Australia’s Karis Davidson and South Africa’s Casandra Alexander finished tied fourth at 6-under. Argentina’s Magdalena Simmermacher took sixth place at 5-under.
Following another strong week, Laisne moved to the top of the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit with 797.50 points. Australia’s Kelsey Bennett sits second with 670.25 points, while Alexander is third with 540.83 points.
The Ladies European Tour now heads to the Gold Coast for the final event of the Australian swing, the Australian WPGA Championship at Sanctuary Cove.
