Haotong Li clinches Qatar Masters with clutch final-hole birdie

Haotong Li clinched victory at the 2025 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters with a dramatic birdie on the final hole, edging out Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen by a single stroke.

The Chinese golfer was pushed to the limit by his Danish rival, who birdied the 18th to tie for the lead at 15-under, capping off a superb final-round 65—the lowest of the tournament.

Li, who started the day with a four-stroke advantage, saw his lead dwindle as the competition intensified. After making par at the 18th in the first three rounds, he saved his best for last, sinking a nerve-wracking 15-foot putt to finish at 16-under and secure his fourth DP World Tour title.

Overcome with emotion, the 29-year-old dropped his putter and let out a series of triumphant roars before embracing his caddie.

“This means so much,” Li said. “I never imagined I could fight back to this position. Even this morning, I felt incredibly stressed. I’m just so relieved I made that final putt. I’ll definitely celebrate this one properly!”

Li had set the pace with early birdies on the first two holes, briefly stretching his lead to four strokes. However, Neergaard-Petersen mounted a fierce challenge, carding five birdies before a crucial gain at the 15th. When Li bogeyed the same hole, the momentum seemed to shift.

A heartbreaking lip-out for par at the 17th ultimately dashed the Dane’s hopes, giving Li the chance to seal the win—which he did in style.

Brandon Robinson Thompson finished third at 13-under, followed by Antoine Rozner in fourth at 10-under. Tied for fifth at nine-under were Jayden Schaper, Ben Schmidt, and Martin Couvra.

Shubhankar Sharma and Veer Ahlawat, both Indian players, missed the 36-hole cut after shooting 75-69(E) and 80-76(+12)
