Honey Baisoya wins DP World Players Championship, ends five-year title drought
Honey Baisoya closed with a 5-under 65 to seal a three-shot victory at the INR 1.5 crore DP World Players Championship at the Qutab Golf Course in New Delhi, ending his five-year wait for a title.
The overnight leader by five, Baisoya signed for six birdies against one bogey to finish at 23-under 257 for the week and claim his eighth professional win. The victory cheque of INR 22.5 lakh also lifted him from third to first on the 2026 DP World PGTI Order of Merit.
Kshitij Naveed Kaul mounted the day’s best charge, shooting a flawless 8-under 62 — his second 62 of the week — to finish runner-up at 20-under 260. Veer Ahlawat took third at 17-under 263 after a closing 65.
Baisoya made a composed start, picking up five birdies on the front nine while dropping just one shot. A key shift came mid-round when he leaned more on the driver to stay aggressive, a move that helped him keep the chasers at arm’s length.
He then played a controlled back nine before sealing the title in style at the last, producing a superb bunker shot to set up his final birdie and close out the win.
“I’m delighted to be back in the winner’s circle after such a long time,” Baisoya said, acknowledging the pressure of being chased by low-scoring threats and the importance of keeping his nerves in check.
Kaul’s runner-up finish was built on precision and momentum. He made eight birdies in an error-free round and finished with four straight birdies to end the week on a surge.
Baisoya’s win marks a significant early-season statement, converting a 54-hole lead into a title and resetting his year with a confidence-boosting victory in Delhi.
