Pranavi Urs surged into the top 10 at the Australian Women’s Classic with a superb bogey-free 6-under 66 in the second round at Magenta Shores Golf & Country Club.
After opening with an even-par 72, the Indian bounced back strongly to reach 6-under for the tournament and move into tied seventh, becoming the best-placed Indian in the field after two rounds.
Among the other Indians, Diksha Dagar sits tied 22nd after rounds of 69 and 73. Avani Prashanth (77-72) and Hitaashee Bakshi (82-69) failed to make the cut despite improving in the second round.
At the top of the leaderboard, Australia’s Kelsey Bennett continued her strong run of form with a 4-under 68 to move to 10-under and take a one-shot lead heading into the weekend.
Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab and England’s Meghan MacLaren share second place at 9-under. Cheenglab followed her opening 67 with a 68, while MacLaren carded a bogey-free 67 to stay in contention.
South Africa’s Cassandra Alexander climbed to fourth at 8-under after a 5-under 67.
With two rounds remaining, Pranavi remains well placed as she looks to convert her strong second-round surge into a top finish.
