Pranavi Urs stays T-5 at Australian Women’s Classic ahead of final round

Pranavi Urs stayed firmly in contention at the Australian Women’s Classic, carding a 2-under 70 to remain tied fifth heading into the final round at Magenta Shores.

The 21-year-old moved to 8-under for the tournament after rounds of 72-66-70, keeping herself within striking distance of the leaders despite a late double bogey on the 17th hole.

Pranavi began the round steadily with a birdie on the second but briefly slipped with back-to-back bogeys on the fourth and fifth. She recovered well with birdies on the eighth and ninth before producing a strong stretch on the back nine with further birdies on the 11th, 13th and 15th. The double bogey on the 17th halted her charge but she still finished among the leading contenders.

Diksha Dagar also climbed the leaderboard with a 3-under 69, rebounding after a difficult second round to move to 5-under overall and tied 14th. Diksha overcame an early wobble with five birdies across the round to close strongly.

Australia’s Kelsey Bennett will take a one-shot lead into the final round after posting a third-round 70 to reach 12-under for the tournament.

England’s Meghan MacLaren remains in the hunt, while fellow English golfer Alice Hewson sits fourth at 9-under as the title race heads into the final day.

With 18 holes remaining, Pranavi remains well placed as she chases a breakthrough finish on the Ladies European Tour.
