Pritish Karayat wins Pre-Q II by six shots
Seventeen-year-old amateur Pritish Singh Karayat finished on top at Pre-Qualifying II of the PGTI Qualifying School 2026, signing off with a 3-under 69 to complete a six-shot win at Kensville Golf & Country Club, Ahmedabad.
Karayat, who represents Delhi Golf Club, followed his opening 7-under 65 with a steady second round to post 10-under 134 (65-69) and pull away from the field. He made four birdies and one bogey on Wednesday, leaning on solid tee-to-green play and a series of 10–12 foot conversions to maintain control as the chasing pack failed to close.
From a field of 135 in Pre-Qualifying II, the top 38 advanced to the Final Qualifying Stage, with the cut set at 5-over 149.
“The only disappointment was missing out on a few conversions… I had five lip-outs,” Karayat said. “But I was quite relaxed on the course today. Winning by a big margin gives me a lot of confidence going into the Final Stage.”
Amateur Mahir Rakha finished second at 4-under 140 (73-67), while seasoned pro Gurki Shergill took third at 3-under 141 (70-71).
Kolkata’s Nazir Ali missed the cut for the Final Stage but produced the moment of the day, making a hole-in-one on the 11th during his second-round 73.
