Yuvraj Sandhu endured a tough final round at the Turkish Airlines Open, slipping out of a top-10 finish after a late collapse on Sunday.
Sandhu, who had put himself in contention with rounds of 69-71-71, was still inside the top 10 through 10 holes of the final round. However, a double bogey followed by four more bogeys derailed his challenge. A lone birdie offered little relief as he signed for a 5-over 77 to finish at even par, dropping to tied 43rd.
Shubhankar Sharma also had a quiet finish, carding a 2-over 74 to end the week tied 65th at 2-over overall (70-75-74-74).
At the top, Sweden’s Mikael Lindberg secured his maiden DP World Tour title with a composed final-round 69 to finish at 10-under, sealing a two-shot victory at the National Golf Club in Antalya.
“It’s a dream come true. I’ve been working towards this for a long time,” Lindberg said.
The 33-year-old, playing his 70th DP World Tour event, held off Daniel Rodrigues in the final pairing to clinch the win. The victory also sees Lindberg top the Asian Swing Rankings, earning him a place at the upcoming PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club.
Rodrigues and Italy’s Guido Migliozzi finished tied second at 8-under, while Ewen Ferguson, Darius van Driel and Jacob Skov Olesen shared fourth at 7-under.
What it means: A breakthrough win for Lindberg, while Sandhu’s strong week highlights his growing potential despite a difficult finish.
What’s next: Sandhu will look to build on three solid rounds, while Lindberg heads into his maiden Major with momentum.
