Shubhankar Sharma overcame three late bogeys to remain inside the top 10 at Crans-sur-Sierre, while defending champion Thriston Lawrence opened a two-shot lead.

Shubhankar Sharma retained his place inside the top 10 despite a difficult finish to the second round of the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club.

The 30-year-old returned a 2-under 68 to reach 8-under for the tournament, following his opening 64. He will begin the weekend tied for eighth with an opportunity to strengthen his bid to retain his DP World Tour card.

Sharma made six birdies, evenly split across the two nines, but conceded four bogeys. Three of those dropped shots came over his final six holes, preventing him from climbing further up the leaderboard.

The final two rounds carry added significance for the two-time DP World Tour winner, who entered the week 179th in the season standings and needs to move inside the top 100 to secure his playing rights for 2027.

Yuvraj Sandhu produced a spirited response to his opening 77, improving by 12 strokes with a 5-under 65. However, the recovery was not enough to make the halfway cut.

Defending champion Thriston Lawrence took control with a bogey-free 63, moving to 13-under and establishing a two-shot advantage.

Starting from the 10th, Lawrence made his first birdie at the par-three 13th before a gain at the 16th sparked a run of six consecutive birdies around the turn. A crucial bunker save at the fifth preserved his clean card.

The South African is chasing his third Omega European Masters title, having also triumphed in 2022 and 2025.

Nacho Elvira shot 62 to share second with Jeremy Paul, two strokes behind Lawrence. Keita Nakajima’s bogey-free 63 lifted him into fourth, while Rafa Cabrera Bello, Ashun Wu and Paul Casey shared fifth.
