Sunit Chowrasia completed a successful comeback from injury with a one-shot victory at the Alpha Sports Academy Golf Championship on the PGTI NexGen Tour in Patna.
The Kolkata golfer closed with a steady 73 to finish at 7-under 209, securing his maiden title after holding a three-shot lead overnight.
Bipin Mukhiya fired the day’s best round of 67 to finish runner-up at 6-under 210, while Divesh Rana, Vinay Kumar Yadav and Rajesh Kumar Gautam shared third at 3-under 213.
Chowrasia, returning after a three-and-a-half-year injury layoff, relied on patience in a nervy final round. He mixed two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine and dropped one more shot on the back, but steady par golf was enough to seal the win.
The victory lifts him to sixth in the NexGen Order of Merit and marks a significant step in his return to competitive golf.
“This win is a big confidence boost after a long injury break,” Chowrasia said. “I stayed patient under pressure and managed to close it out.”
Mukhiya’s runner-up finish moves him to the top of the Order of Merit standings, highlighting a tight race early in the season.
Played on the unique nine-hole layout at Patna Golf Club, the event once again showcased emerging Indian talent on the NexGen circuit.
