Sahith Theegala stayed consistent with a second straight 3-under 67 to remain tied 11th after round two of the Houston Open.
Sudarshan Yellamaraju made a strong move as well, climbing to tied 20th at 5-under after a bogey-free 66.
Theegala is 6-under through 36 holes, firmly in the mix heading into the weekend.
Yellamaraju, meanwhile, rebounded from his opening 69 with a clean card that featured four birdies and no dropped shots.
At the top, Gary Woodland surged into the lead with a 7-under 63 to reach 12-under par.
Denmark’s Nicolai Højgaard and Jackson Suber share second at 10-under after rounds of 62 and 63 respectively.
Overnight leader Paul Waring slipped back with a 71 and is now tied alongside Theegala.
Theegala’s round included four birdies against one bogey, while Yellamaraju’s flawless effort underlined his growing confidence this season.
With two rounds to play, both Indian-origin players are well placed to push higher up the leaderboard.
