Karandeep Kochhar closed with a flourish to finish tied fifth at the International Series Japan.
The Indian carded a bogey-free final round, highlighted by three straight birdies to end the day, finishing at 12-under — three shots behind the winner.
Kochhar’s round included birdies on the fourth, 16th, 17th and 18th, capping a strong week after recovering from a difficult third round.
Travis Smyth claimed the title in dramatic fashion, holing a 20-foot eagle putt on the par-5 18th for a 7-under 64 and a one-shot victory at 15-under.
Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert and Japan’s Ryosuke Kinoshita finished tied second at 14-under after charging rounds of 62 and 63 respectively.
Overnight leaders Hongtaek Kim and Shugo Imahira fell back, finishing tied fifth and tied seventh after rounds of 69 and 70.
Smyth’s win continues a rich vein of form, following his recent triumph in Japan on the Australasia Tour. He now leads both the Asian Tour Order of Merit and the International Series Rankings.
For Kochhar, a steady finish and late burst ensured a top-five result — another strong showing on the international stage.
