Pranavi Urs delivered a composed, bogey-free 3-under 70 to emerge as the best-placed Indian after round one of the Joburg Ladies Open, sitting T-21 at Randpark Golf Club.
On a par-73 layout, Pranavi’s clean card puts her in a strong position heading into day two, leading the five-player Indian contingent.
Tvesa Malik and Diksha Dagar followed at 1-under 72 (T-54), while Avani Prashanth (75) and Hitaashee Bakshi (77) will need low rounds to make the cut.
Tvesa’s round showed early promise. Playing her first LET event of the season, she was 4-under through the front nine before a costly finish — a double bogey and a bogey on the 15th and 16th — pulled her back to 72.
Diksha, currently ninth on the LET Order of Merit, mixed five birdies with three bogeys and a double in an up-and-down round.
At the top, Agathe Laisne and Ariane Klotz of France, along with American Brianna Navarrosa, share the lead at 7-under 66. Scotland’s Laura Beveridge and Australia’s Justice Bosio are one shot back at 6-under 67.
With the leaderboard tightly packed, Pranavi’s steady start gives her a platform — but sharper scoring will be key as the cut line approaches.
