Aditi opens strong in Spain as five Indians start season finale

India made a steady, if mixed, start at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, with Aditi Ashok leading the charge after a composed 3-under 69 on Thursday that placed her T-10 at Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf.

Aditi, a former champion of this event (2023), sits three shots behind co-leaders Smilla Tärning Sønderby of Denmark and Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab, both bogey-free at 6-under 66.

The season-ending championship is the final stop on the 2025 Ladies European Tour, featuring 75 players and five Indians — a historic reflection of India’s rising presence on the circuit.

How the Indians Fared

Aditi Ashok – 69 (T-10)

Aditi bogeyed the third but steadied quickly, turning even-par before catching fire on the back nine. An eagle on the par-5 10th and late birdies on 16 and 17 lifted her into early contention.

Avani Prashanth – 71 (T-27)

The rookie opened with a birdie from the 10th but traded shots throughout. Her back nine was sharp, with three birdies, before a closing bogey on the ninth left her at 1-under.

Hitaashee Bakshi – 73 (T-45)
Riding the momentum of her breakthrough third-place finish at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, Hitaashee mixed four birdies with five bogeys.

Pranavi Urs – 74 (T-49)
Pranavi, fresh from her historic IGPL win playing alongside men, was two-under through 11 holes before a rough closing stretch — bogeys on 12 and 18 plus a double on 17.

Diksha Dagar – 74 (T-49)
Diksha produced two birdies but four bogeys in an otherwise steady start to the week.

At the Top

Both Sønderby and Cheenglab delivered flawless rounds, each rolling in six birdies to share the advantage. France’s Céline Herbin and Spain’s Luna Sobrón Galmés trail by one after matching 67s.

With four rounds to play and five Indians in the field for the season finale, the weekend promises compelling storylines — from Aditi’s pursuit of another strong finish to Avani’s standout rookie season and Pranavi’s continued rise.
