Alex Fitzpatrick stormed to victory at the Hero Indian Open, capitalising on a late collapse from defending champion Eugenio Chacarra to claim his maiden DP World Tour title.
Fitzpatrick closed with a 3-under 69 to finish at 9-under 279, winning by two shots after Chacarra faltered on the back nine.
Chacarra, who began the day with a four-shot lead, dropped crucial shots across the closing stretch and signed for a 75 to finish at 7-under.
The turning point came from the 15th hole, where Chacarra bogeyed as Fitzpatrick surged with a run of birdies to take control. The Spaniard dropped further shots on the 16th and 17th, effectively handing over the title.
Fitzpatrick’s round was defined by a brilliant back nine, where he piled on birdies to overturn the deficit and build a cushion that held despite a closing double bogey.
The win comes just a week after his brother Matt Fitzpatrick triumphed on the PGA Tour, making them the first brothers to win in consecutive weeks on different tours.
Among the Indians, Om Prakash Chouhan and Manoj S were the best finishers, both tied 43rd at 10-over. Kshitij Naveed Kaul, the only other Indian to make the cut, finished tied 64th.
MJ Daffue, Ugo Coussaud and Andy Sullivan shared third place at 5-under.
From four behind at the start of the day to lifting the trophy, Fitzpatrick delivered a composed finish under pressure — a win built on timing, resilience and a decisive closing stretch.
