Bhatia T-16, Theegala T-25 as Fitzpatrick wins RBC Heritage playoff

Akshay Bhatia and Sahith Theegala both finished inside the top 25 at the RBC Heritage, closing strong weeks with under-par rounds.

Bhatia climbed to T-16 with a final push, gaining nine spots from his overnight position, while Theegala moved up to T-25 after starting the day T-41.

Sudarshan Yellamaraju also finished the week under par, ending T-53.

At the top, Matt Fitzpatrick edged World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in a playoff after both players finished at 18-under 268 at Harbour Town.

The decisive moment came in the playoff, where Fitzpatrick struck a superb 4-iron from 204 yards to 13 feet and holed the birdie putt to seal his second RBC Heritage title.

The win — his fourth on the PGA Tour and 13th worldwide — lifts him to a career-high World No. 3. It also continues a red-hot run that includes a Valspar Championship win and nearly $8.3 million earned in his last four starts.

Scheffler forced the playoff with a late charge, birdieing two of his final four holes for a 67 after trailing by three late in the round. He nearly extended it further after a brilliant pitch to eight feet in extra time, but Fitzpatrick’s putt ended the contest before he could respond.

This marks Scheffler’s second straight runner-up finish, having also finished one shot short at the Masters after a weekend surge.

Si Woo Kim finished solo third after a closing 68, recording his fourth top-10 of the season.

What it means: Bhatia and Theegala continue steady runs, while Fitzpatrick confirms elite form with another big win.

What’s next: Momentum builds heading into the next stretch, with both Indian-origin players trending upward.
