Bhullar four off lead after Zheng’s stunning 62
China’s Sampson Zheng produced a breathtaking 10-under 62 on Saturday to set up a thrilling final-round showdown at the US$2 million International Series Philippines, sharing the lead with local hero Miguel Tabuena and Thailand’s Sarit Suwannarut at the Sta. Elena Golf Club.
Zheng’s sensational round featured eight birdies and an eagle on the par-five eighth, including a streak of four straight birdies from the 14th to the 17th holes. “I just hit a lot of greens and made a lot of putts,” said Zheng, who credited a perfectly struck hybrid on the eighth for sparking his momentum.
Tabuena, roared on by home fans, matched the intensity with a bogey-free 65 highlighted by two eagles on the par-five third and 16th holes. Playing with a blue ribbon in memory of his late friend Paolo Tantoco, Tabuena said, “I was just cruising and found myself in a real flow state. To do this at home, in front of this crowd, makes it even more special.”
Overnight leader Sarit Suwannarut stayed in the mix with a steady 69, while India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar continued his fine form, firing a five-under 67 to sit solo seventh at 13-under, just four off the lead. “I hit 13 fairways and 16 greens — it was solid golf,” Bhullar said, pleased with his ball-striking and composure.
As the International Series heads into its decisive Sunday, fans are set for a dramatic finish featuring elite Asian Tour and LIV Golf stars — and a resurgent Bhullar chasing glory for India.
