Bhullar targets comeback at International Series Philippines with renewed focus
India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar is looking to turn heartbreak into motivation as he prepares for the International Series Philippines presented by BingoPlus, just weeks after a tough finish in Jakarta.
The 11-time Asian Tour winner had shared the lead going into the final round of the Jakarta International Championship but slipped to tied-19th after a difficult closing 75. Now, with four events left on the International Series, Bhullar is determined to make a late charge up the season-long Order of Merit, which offers a pathway to LIV Golf. He currently sits 35th in the standings.
“It’s been a really good year. I’ve been striking the ball well and staying consistent,” Bhullar said. “In Jakarta, I led for most of the week but Wade [Ormsby] finished strong. I’ve been working hard on my mental game — focusing, visualizing, meditating — and feel both mentally and physically in a great place.”
The field at Sta. Elena Golf Club (Oct. 23–26) will be among the strongest in Asia this season, featuring Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Charl Schwartzel, and Louis Oosthuizen, alongside top Indians Rayhan Thomas, SSP Chawrasia, Ajeetesh Sandhu, and Karandeep Kochhar.
For Bhullar, the challenge is clear but inspiring. “The approach is the same — 72 holes, make more birdies, fewer bogeys,” he said. “It’s fantastic to see global stars here. Events like these are what will grow the game in Asia and inspire the next generation of golfers.”
