Fast Facts: 3 Indians at the DPWT Q-School
Three Indian golfers—Saptak Talwar, Rayhan Thomas, and Angad Cheema—are set to compete in the DP World Tour Q-School Final Stage, a six-round endurance test that begins today at the INFINITUM Golf Resort in Tarragona, Spain. This pivotal event, known as the DP World Tour Qualifying School, offers just 20 coveted cards for the 2025 season, down from 25 in the previous year.
Each of the trio has taken a unique route to reach the Final Stage:
Rayhan Thomas – 24-year-old from Dubai and a former standout at Oklahoma State University, has made a strong mark in his return to professional golf. After winning a PGTI event in Coimbatore in August, Thomas began his journey at the first round of qualifying at Donnington Grove Golf Club in England. Posting rounds of 68-72-71-70, he finished tied-10th to advance to Stage-II. At Fontanals Golf Club in Spain, he fired rounds of 69-67-68-67 to finish tied-9th and secure his place in the Final Stage.
Saptak Talwar – 25, a graduate of Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, earned direct entry to Stage-II by virtue of his PGTI ranking. He seized the opportunity, posting an impressive -16 total with rounds of 69-71-64-68 at Isla Canela Links in Spain, finishing tied-10th. Talwar, who made history as the first Indian to earn playing rights on the PGA Tour Canada in 2021, has since secured full playing rights on the PGTI in 2023 and is aiming to qualify for both the Asian and DP World Tours for the 2025 season.
Angad Cheema – 34, from Chandigarh, has experienced a career resurgence after winning his second PGTI title—11 years after his first—at the Vizag Open in October. The victory propelled him to second on the PGTI rankings, earning him direct entry to the Final Stage of the Q-School.
These three talented golfers will now compete in a gruelling 108-hole marathon, with hopes of securing one of the 20 available cards to join the DP World Tour in 2025.
