Hissi Besra fires 67 to win U.S. Kids title

Hissi Besra produced six birdies in the day’s best round to win the Girls 11-12 division at the opening leg of the U.S. Kids Golf India North series.

Hissi Besra underlined her growing promise with a five-under 67 to win the Girls 11-12 division at the opening leg of the 2026 U.S. Kids Golf India North series at Classic Golf and Country Club in Gurugram.

Besra made three birdies on each nine and dropped only one shot. She gained strokes at the first, third and eighth before her lone bogey at the par-four sixth. Further birdies followed at the 10th, 12th and 15th before she closed with three pars.

The victory continued her recent progress after podium finishes at the U.S. Kids Golf India Championships, CSK South Zone Championship, Patna Junior Masters, Kolkata Juniors and Shubhankar Sharma All India Junior Invitational.

Nihal Cheema, a medallist at this year’s U.S. Kids Golf World Championships in Pinehurst, won the Boys 9 division with a two-under 70. He made four birdies against two bogeys to finish six shots ahead of Zowra Veer Sikand.

Rayirth Jain also shot 70 to win the Boys 13-14 category. One-over through 13 holes, he made four birdies over the closing five holes, including gains at the 17th and 18th.

Drona Singh Dhull added another title to his successful season with a one-under 71 in the Boys 12 division, despite making three consecutive bogeys from the 15th.

Preferred lies were in operation during the opening leg. Players aged eight and under competed over nine holes, while the remaining divisions played 18. The second leg will be held at Classic GCC on Friday, September 11.
