Jhared Hack takes halfway lead at DP World Players Championship in Delhi
American Jhared Hack produced a second straight bogey-free round to take the halfway lead at the INR 1.5 crore DP World Players Championship at the Qutab Golf Course in New Delhi.
Hack followed his opening 64 with a superb 7-under 63 to reach 13-under 127 after 36 holes, climbing two places from his overnight tied-third position.
Fresh from winning the DP World PGTI season-opener in Naya Raipur last week, Hack continued his strong run despite feeling under the weather during the round.
Honey Baisoya remains close behind in second after a 65, taking his total to 12-under 128. Jamal Hossain is third at 11-under 129, while Tapendra Ghai, Dhruv Sheoran, Veer Ahlawat and Amardeep Malik share fourth at 8-under 132.
Hack did most of his damage on the back nine, where he collected five birdies to surge ahead. He then closed strongly with birdies on the eighth and ninth to complete another flawless card.
“I played solid golf and hit it where I wanted to off the tee,” Hack said. “I stayed patient and created enough chances.”
Baisoya mixed seven birdies with two bogeys, recovering well after back-to-back drops on the 14th and 15th before finishing with late birdies to stay within one shot of the lead.
The cut was set at 1-over 141, with 56 professionals advancing to the weekend rounds.
With two rounds complete, Hack holds a narrow advantage as the chase group gathers heading into the decisive stretch at Qutab.
