Karandeep Kochhar believes the IGPL’s new partnership with the LIV Golf-backed International Series could open doors for Indian golfers.
The Indian, who sits tied second after round two in Japan, said the tie-up creates a clearer pathway from domestic golf to global tours.
“It’s great for our players back home to have a chance to play International Series events and hopefully move towards LIV,” Kochhar said.
The International Series Rankings offer a route into the LIV Golf League, and the partnership gives leading IGPL players access to those events and the LIV Promotions pathway.
Kochhar sees it as a significant step for Indian golf, especially for younger players aiming to break into elite competition.
He has already benefited from strong form on the IGPL, winning the 2025 Invitational UAE and finishing runner-up in Kolkata.
That momentum has carried into 2026, with a win on the Asian Development Tour and a top-five finish in the Philippines before arriving in Japan.
A bogey-free 65 in round two at Caledonian Golf Club has now put him firmly in contention.
For Kochhar, the bigger picture is just as important — a structured route from India to the global stage.
