Lavanya Jadon fires 67 to lead at Jaypee Wishtown

Eighteen-year-old rookie pro Lavanya Jadon closed strongly to take the first-round lead at the 15th leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at Jaypee Wishtown.

The Gurugram golfer, already a winner this season, shot a four-under 67 with three birdies in her last five holes to grab pole position. She is one shot clear of amateur Mahreen Bhatia and former Order of Merit winner Sneha Singh, who returned matching 68s.

Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor opened with a two-under 69 to sit in a four-way tie for fourth alongside Heena Kang, Ridhima Dilawari and Anvitha Narender. Three players, including Amandeep Drall and Jahaanvie Walia, carded one-under 70 as ten players broke par on a good scoring day.

Lavanya mixed five birdies with a lone bogey, picking up shots on the first, sixth, 14th, 16th and 18th. Mahreen had five birdies of her own, including one at the last, while Sneha’s four-under card featured four birdies against a single dropped shot.

With two rounds to go and a packed leaderboard, Lavanya has a real chance to chase a second win in her first season.
