Sahith Theegala moves inside top-10 in Utah

Sahith Theegala continued his promising run of form at the Bank of Utah Championship, carding a four-under 67 in the second round to move into tied eighth at seven-under overall before play was suspended due to fading light.

The 26-year-old Californian, who began the day tied for 24th, recovered from an early bogey on the par-four fourth hole with a string of five birdies, including a superb 15-foot conversion on the sixth. He added further birdies on the 14th and 18th to complete a composed round that kept him within striking distance of the leaders heading into the weekend.

Theegala’s comeback is particularly encouraging after an injury-hit season that saw him miss the FedExCup Playoffs for the first time in his career. Persistent oblique and neck issues earlier in the year forced him to adjust his swing, but the former PGA Tour winner appears to be regaining confidence and rhythm. A strong finish in Utah could significantly bolster his position ahead of the 2026 season.

At the top of the leaderboard, Michael Brennan, a 22-year-old rookie playing on a sponsor’s exemption, surged ahead with a six-under 65, highlighted by a 40-foot eagle putt on the ninth hole. He holds a one-shot lead over Pierceson Coody (64), Jackson Suber (67), and Justin Lower (67) at nine-under when play was halted.

First-round leader Thorbjørn Olesen followed up his 65 with a 70 to join Theegala in eighth, as several players look to complete their rounds when play resumes on Saturday morning.
