Shubhankar Sharma closed with a disappointing 4-over 76, while England’s Joe Dean surged through the field to claim his maiden DP World Tour title at The Belfry.

Shubhankar Sharma endured a difficult final round to finish tied for 60th at the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at The Belfry Hotel & Resort.

Sharma, who had been in contention for a top-10 finish earlier in the week, closed with a 4-over 76 to finish at even-par. The Indian posted rounds of 69, 71, 72 and 76 across the weather-disrupted tournament.

Yuvraj Sandhu, the other Indian in the field, missed the halfway cut.

England’s Joe Dean produced a remarkable final-day charge to secure his maiden DP World Tour title by three strokes. Dean played 24 holes on Sunday and recorded 11 birdies, including nine during a closing 9-under 63—the lowest round of the week.

The Sheffield golfer resumed his third round at 7am, eight shots behind the leader, and picked up two birdies over his remaining six holes. He began the final round seven strokes adrift but surged to the top with a bogey-free 63, setting the clubhouse target at 14-under.

With closest challenger Marco Penge two shots behind through 12 holes, Dean and his wife and caddie, Emily, faced a lengthy wait. Penge, however, was unable to capitalise on the par-five 15th and 17th, confirming Dean’s breakthrough victory.

Nacho Elvira, Daniel Hillier, Niklas Nørgaard and Jacob Skov Olesen shared second at 11-under. Penge finished another stroke back alongside Tom McKibbin and Thomas Rosenmueller.

Dean’s victory completed a rapid rise through the professional ranks. He was competing on the EuroPro Tour as recently as 2022 and played no world-ranking events in 2023 before earning his DP World Tour card through Qualifying School later that year.
