Shekar goes wire-to-wire with bogey-free 65 to win season opener

Jasmine Shekar closed with a bogey-free 5-under 65 to complete a wire-to-wire win at the opening leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour 2026 at Bombay Presidency Golf Club.

Shekar, 20, finished at 8-under 202 after rounds of 67-70-65, winning by four shots and signing the lowest round of the week on the final day. She was the only player to post par or better in all three rounds on the par-70 course.

Ridhima Dilawari finished second at 4-under after a closing 67, while Lavanya Jadon took third at 2-over.

The win is Shekar’s fourth career title on the Hero WPG Tour since turning professional in 2023. She won twice in 2024, once in 2025, and now opens the 2026 season with her most emphatic victory to date. Her progression has been steady: sixth on the Order of Merit in 2023, fifth in 2024 and third last season.

Shekar also finished as the third-best woman professional on the IGPL last year, behind Pranavi Urs and Dilawari.

Among the chasing pack, amateur Zara Anand closed with a 69 to finish third at 1-over 211, one of only three players under par in the final round. Lavanya Jadon placed fourth, while amateur Kashika Misra finished fifth.

The Tour moves to Kalhaar Blues & Greens, Ahmedabad, for the second leg from January 21–23.
