Saptak Talwar and Dhruv Sheoran shared the lead after the third round of the US$300,000 Indorama Ventures Open Golf Championship at Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad.
Talwar (68-71-69) and Sheoran (69-69-70) both reached 8-under 208 after 54 holes, setting up a tight contest heading into the final round.
Talwar climbed three places with a flawless 3-under 69 that featured birdies on the fourth, eighth and 12th holes. The Greater Noida golfer, who won on the DP World PGTI last year, kept his round error-free and continued his steady progress up the leaderboard.
Sheoran, who began the day in third place, also moved into a share of the lead with a round of 70. The Gurugram-based professional collected four birdies against two bogeys to remain firmly in contention.
Manu Gandas produced one of the best rounds of the day, carding a 5-under 67 to climb 11 places into third at 7-under 209.
Aryaman Aditya Mohan also returned a 67, the joint-lowest score of the day, to move into tied fourth at 6-under 210 alongside Arjun Prasad (69) and France’s Clement Sordet (71).
Overnight co-leaders Jhared Hack and Brijesh Kumar slipped down the leaderboard after difficult rounds. Hack returned a 74 to drop to tied seventh at 5-under 211, while Kumar’s 76 pushed him down to tied 16th at 3-under 213.
With just one round remaining, Talwar and Sheoran will look to convert their share of the lead into victory in the final round in Ahmedabad.
