Tom McKibbin reportedly set to join LIV Golf

Irish golf sensation Tom McKibbin is rumored to be on the verge of joining LIV Golf, the controversial breakaway league. Reports from TenGolf.com suggest the 22-year-old from Newtownabbey could bolster Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII team, joining the likes of Tyrrell Hatton and Caleb Surratt.

McKibbin has enjoyed a meteoric rise in professional golf. The Holywood native recently completed a standout season on the DP World Tour, finishing 18th in the Race to Dubai standings, which earned him a PGA Tour card for 2025. His season highlights include nine top-ten finishes, a runner-up spot at the Italian Open, and a breakthrough victory at the Porsche European Open in Germany.

The young Irishman also debuted in Major championships in 2023, competing at both the U.S. Open and The Open, further cementing his reputation as a rising star in the game.

Joining LIV Golf would mark a significant move for McKibbin, aligning him with Rahm’s star-studded team and the league’s lucrative opportunities. However, the decision would also place him in the midst of ongoing debates surrounding LIV’s impact on the sport and its Saudi Arabian backing.

Before any potential switch, McKibbin is set to partner with Hatton in the Great Britain and Ireland team at the Team Cup in Abu Dhabi, facing Continental Europe.

As speculation mounts, McKibbin’s next step will undoubtedly be closely watched, with the young talent seemingly on the cusp of a transformative moment in his career.
