Yuvraj Sandhu seals record-equaling sixth title of the season
Yuvraj Sandhu turned last week’s heartbreak into a statement win, closing with a bogey-free six-under 66 for an eight-shot victory at the INR 2 crore Vishwa Samudra Open 2025 presented by Kapil Dev at Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi. The 28-year-old Chandigarh pro, who finished runner-up in Jaipur a week ago, posted rounds of 73-69-66-66 for a 14-under total of 274 to collect INR 30 lakh and secure an unassailable lead on the PGTI Ranking.
The win confirmed Sandhu as the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit champion and earned him a spot on next season’s DP World Tour, validating his decision to focus on the PGTI and give up his Asian Tour card this year. It was his sixth title of the season, matching Manu Gandas’ 2022 record for most wins in a PGTI season, and it also equalled the lowest winning total at DGC, the 14-under mark first set by Viraj Madappa in 2021.
Sri Lanka’s N Thangaraja carded a final-round 68 to finish a distant second at six-under 282 and move up to second on the PGTI Ranking with season earnings of INR 1,08,57,488. Akshay Sharma (five-under 283), Manu Gandas (three-under 285) and Rashid Khan (two-under 286) rounded out the top five.
Sandhu, who started the final day with a one-shot lead, birdied the first two holes with an up-and-down from the bunker and a 12-foot putt to seize control and never looked back, adding four more birdies to stroll to his 15th career win. With 13 top-10s this season, including three runner-up finishes, he said the narrow misses had toughened him mentally and that clearer decision-making with his caddie this week made a crucial difference.
